There are many methods out there for building muscle quickly and easily, but if you’ve been trying them, you may already know that many of them are not very effective. Some of these methods can even be dangerous! That’s why it’s important to get the best information possible. Read on to learn the real ways to build muscle safely.

Try to consume some carbohydrates and proteins prior to going to sleep. The calories that you obtain will cause your body to reduce the rate at which it breaks down proteins while you are sleeping. Eating a small portion of cheese and a fruit is a great way to do this. You should also eat something soon after you wake up.

Genetics are one of the most important factors in building muscle mass. There is not much you can change about your interior genetics that shape your body, but you can improve the way you look by becoming more tone. Some of us just do not have the bodies that will have large muscles, so accept that and strive for better tone.

Consider drinking a protein shake before starting your weight-training workouts. Liquid minerals tend to be absorbed quicker in the body than solid food, so think about having a shake filled with protein, about 10 to 20 grams. The protein shake will help give you a boost of protein to encourage protein synthesis, which is the way to building muscles.

Refrain from performing both strength training and cardiovascular exercises, if your goal is to build muscle, and not necessarily to improve overall fitness. The reason for this is that these two kinds of exercises cause your body to respond in contradictory ways. Focusing strictly on building muscle will help you to maximize your results.

Trying to build up muscle mass while you are engaging in marathon training, or other tough cardio workouts, is not advisable. Cardio is important, but it can make muscle building efforts futile. If increasing muscle mass and strength is your primary goal, stick with resistance training.

Many people who wish to build muscle use protein shakes and meal replacements. It is important to note however that there is a distinction between the two. It can be dangerous to your health to use protein shakes frequently as a meal replacement. A full meal contains many essential nutrients that are not included in protein shakes. In addition, living off protein shakes can leave your muscles soft which negates your muscle building efforts.

Eating enough carbohydrates is crucial for building muscle. Carbs provide fuel for your body, giving it the energy to complete your daily routine. Make sure that you understand that you should be consuming around two or three grams of carbohydrates for just about every pound of your body weight.

If you want to get toned, then use lower weights and more reps and sets. Commit to lifting at least fifteen times while resting for about a minute before the next lift. Your muscle will be stimulated by the lactic acids that these repetitions produce. Repeat this during your regular number of sets for optimum results in your muscle building routine.

Eat plenty of carbs. If your body runs short on glucose after hard workouts, your body will use muscle tissue for protein and carbohydrates, undoing your hard work. Stay away from low-carb diets, and eat an appropriate amount of carbs given the intensity of your workouts–possibly a couple of grams of carbs per pound of body weight each day.

Working out to build muscle is most efficient if you focus on large muscle groups. These include the back, legs, and chest. Implementing workouts that focus on these groups will do the most work in the shortest amount of time, meaning that you’ll grow muscle more quickly and easily than with other workouts.

Some people mistakenly consume too much extra protein at the beginning of their muscle-building program. Doing so can mean a boost in calories consumed, and if these are not getting burned off by the exercise, fat can start forming. Increase your protein intake slowly, adding a couple hundred calories at a time every few days. Your body will be able to keep up with the increase this way, using the extra protein to grow muscle.

Make sure that you aren’t forgetting your back. A lot of people train just the muscles that they can look at in a mirror. Because of this, they often have chests that are big and strong, but their backs are small and weak. You can solve this problem by working your back using barbell rows and pull-ups.

As you can see, safely building muscle is something you can accomplish with some knowledge and common sense. Applying these tips rather than a dangerous fad workout will give you the best chance of succeeding in building a body you can be proud of. Soon you’ll be looking and feeling great!
